So it would seem that someone at Motorola goofed and released the 2.1 update on its website before the planned release date which was to conclude a closed testing period. The news website Androidandme.com picked up on the release page and posted a link to it, believing Motorola had decided to skip the test period and release the update now. I downloaded the software and installed the update to finally have 2.1 on my CLIQ. After only a few hours of trying it myself, I decided to check back with Androidandme to see comments from other CLIQ owners, and I discovered through Androidandme's link to the update page that Motorola had pulled the web page and replaced it with this message:
