One of the largest heaviest tank destroyers ever built, the Elephant was brilliant on paper and terrifying to behold. But in 1943, the Germans sent it into battle without having ever tested it. The Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker is an aerial refueling military aircraft. It was the US Air Force's first jet powered refueling tanker and replaced the KC-97 Stratotanker. Similar in design to the later and enlarged Boeing 707 airliner, it was initially tasked to refuel strategic bombers, but was used extensively in the Vietnam war and later conflicts such as Desert Storm to extend the range and endurance of both Air Force and Navy tactical fighters and bombers.

No attempt to understand the 33rd PRS is complete without some background on their immediate adversaries the Luftwaffe in 1944 and 1945. Almost all of the squadron's pilots had to deal, at one time or the other, with Germany's most famous fighters, Messerschmitt's Bf 109 (popularly referred to as the "Me 109") and Focke Wulf's Fw 190. Several 33rd pilots tangled with Messerschmitt's Me 262 jet, including Captain John Austin, who was shot down and killed by one. This documentary features plenty of excellent wartime footage and a well crafted narration.
